Speed For Trees

Speed For Trees is the new sister game of the original Need For Trees game! This game is an endless runner developed for IOS and Android in the Unity Engine. Players are tasked with traversing through an infinite procedurally generated map. Full of hazards and vibrant environments. As you progress the environment transforms from a dead struggling forest to a lush forest full of life! We designed this to represent what the player is achieving by playing our game! As you play the game and reach milestones we plant trees IN REAL LIFE! The previous game has already planted over 1000 trees in Alberta, Canada. This time we hope to plant thousands more! This game was made under my studio C2 Games, with a team of 7; 3 programmers, 3 Artists, and an audio engineer.

Gameplay

We used a shader to curve our world. This helps keep players on their toes as they have to make split second decisions to avoid incoming obstacles. Also it looks great! The world

Our world is procedurally generated. I created robust and optimized code to build the world as the game progresses.

There are four power-ups in the game; Rocket, Coin Magnet, Shield, and Invincibility !

Cosmetics and Trees

There are many cosmetics in Speed For Trees. Some provide awesome in game bonuses! All are achievable through gameplay and are not locked behind micro transactions. In order to earn a car part players must ‘plant’ the associated tree. Once it’s done growing they earn the car part! There are also characters with unique voice lines, window tints, under-glows, props and more!

Key Features

Backend and LiveOps

We use PlayFab (Microsoft Azure) to handle our backend and Live Ops. We use the PlayFab frameworks cloud code to handle user statistics, account authentication, Leaderboards, Friends lists and more! Players can compare stats and vehicles with other users during runtime! Theres also multiple leaderboards to boost engagement and let players compete for that number 1 spot!

Gameplay Settings

We have several gameplay settings in Speed For Trees. We wanted the users experience to be as customizable as possible. Also we added optimization settings so users on older phones can still have a great experience. Some settings include: particle disabling, inverse swiping, target frame rates, camera settings and more!
